Things to do in and near Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos is located just south of Cancun and just north of Playa Del Carmen making it the perfect location for a well-balanced vacation. Whether you choose to spend all your time relaxing in Puerto Morelos, or dress up and head to a club or restaurant in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen, it’s all at your fingertips. (See Trip Advisor for their list of things to do in Puerto Morelos).
You can access the Yucatan’s most-desired cenotes within a few minutes drive. You won’t want to leave without visiting one, or two, or five. If you’re looking to see a few different types of cenotes in one trip, Cenotes Zapote is one of our favorite tours. Cenotes Kin-ha is also a great one, especially if you like ziplines and high jumps. 7 Bocas is a really beautiful series of entrances into one underground cenote. One of the entrances is wide open and has a 20 foot jump you can do off the side.
You can book tours, right here in town, to almost any adventure. Here are a few you can book online. But if you want to plan ahead, check out Trip Advisor’s List of Tours.
Interested in snorkeling? The second-largest coral reef is a short boat ride from the beach. The reef is a national park so you must go with a guide, but the prices are reasonable – it’s a must see. Just head to the town square and you’ll find someone who will take you or ask us for our recommendations – we do have our favorite guides.
Scuba Diving? If you are not a certified diver, you can easily become PADI certified during your trip. We have two favorite dive shops: Dive with Ruben and Om Delfin. Both dive shops have people who are fluent in English. Much of the staff at Om Delfin speak English, Spanish and French.
If you want to experience some Mayan culture, take a tour inland! Our favorite tour is linked here. I’ve even included some personal pictures of our tours below. On this tour, you can swim in the most amazing cenote, venture into a dry cave, take a walk through the jungle and learn much about natural local health remedies that are growing all around us. After all this, you will have dinner with a local Mayan family and even learn to make your own tortillas.
Once you book your time in our home, you will have access to our house manual which contains restaurant and other recommendations.
